Good news! We successfully forked Litecoin and ported the Kittehcoin blockchain history to it. This gives us all the benefits of Litecoin with the full transaction history of Kittehcoin. So, like we mentioned in a previous post, if you already own Kittehcoin – you automatically own the new, upgraded coin.
Ultimately the objective is to see Kittehcoin deprecated and let the “new” fixed coin take its place. Based on our recent update, all the security work implemented into Litecoin is now available within the new coin. This fixes the original design weaknesses of Kittehcoin.
Now, we’re working to update the coin’s parameters which include things like miner rewards, fees, and block time. Beyond that, though, not much will change with respect to its parameters.
The fork will occur on December 24, 2017 at approximately 9:30pm UTC. Why December 24 at 9:30 UTC? Because it’s the 4-year anniversary of the inception of the original Kittehcoin project. We liked the idea of honoring the original date of the first block. So, our fixed first coin will go live exactly four years later.
